Founder’s Story

My mission is to leverage my gifts, experiences, and abilities to enhance the quality of life for my family, the community, and future posterity.”

Mia JayeMia Jaye founded Fresh Start Kidz, Inc. (FSK) in 2015, motivated by a profound awareness of the critical lack of nutritional knowledge among youth in marginalized communities. She authored her first self-published children’s book “No Way Tre You Can’t Have Your Way, Fruit Instead of Junk Food Today,” aiming to remind families of the importance of nutrition for fostering healthy minds and bodies.

Mia soon realized that these young people were also facing systemic challenges, including violence and crime, leading to traumatic experiences that affected their overall well-being. This mission became intensely personal following the tragic death of her brother in 2020, igniting her passion for systemic change and inspiring the campaign Black Men Deserve To Grow Old (BMDTGO), which advocates for the life and longevity of Black men.

Tragedy struck again in November 2021 when her fiancé, Young Dolph, was also lost to violence. This profound loss deepened BMDTGO’s impact, transforming it into a powerful movement focused on resilience and empowerment for Black men. In response, Mia unified her efforts by merging FSK’s focus on youth nutrition with BMDTGO’s advocacy against violence, evolving FSK’s mission into the partnership FSK x BMDTGOcares. This collaboration addresses the holistic needs of the community, providing vital support to underserved youth and fostering a safer, healthier, and more resilient society.

Driven by her faith and an unwavering commitment to uplifting lives, Mia channels her grief into a mission of hope and transformative change. Her work stands as a powerful testament to resilience and the strength of community, ensuring that her loved ones’ legacies endure through advocacy, empowerment, and the promise of a brighter future for all.
